Born in Honolulu, Michael Pili Pang began dancing hula as a youngster, and later studied under Maiki Aiu Lake and Mae Kamamalu Klein, as well as master chanter Pualani Kanaka‘ole Kanahele.

“It’s a little overwhelming to see how hula has touched so many lives,” said Pang, “my intention was to share hula, have fun and teach people to appreciate this cultural art form. I never imagined the hālau would grow so many branches.”

The goals of the dance company are to strengthen hula and increase its audience, to present hula that is artistically and culturally correct, to actively participate in educating others in the traditional and cultural values of the Hawaiian arts through hula and to present hula on a concert and theater level as seen among other performing disciplines.
